Chunky-Style Beef Chili

Total preparation and cooking time: about 2 hrs
  • 2-1/2 lbs. boneless beef chuck, cut into 1/2 in pcs.
  • 2 tablespoons Our Family Vegetable Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Our Family Salt
  • 2 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) Our Family diced tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Our Family Chili Powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried Our Family oregano leaves
TOPPINGS:  Dairy Our Family Sour Cream & thinly sliced green onions
In Dutch oven or large pot, heat oil over medium heat until hot.  Brown beef half at a time. Pour off drippings.  Season with salt. Stir in tomatoes, salsa, chili powder and oregano.  Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low. Cover tightly and simmer 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 hours or until beef is tender.
Garnish with cream and green onions, as desired.  Makes about 6-1/2 cups.
